Election Day!

On Tuesday, November 6, 2012, the fourth grade students showed their patriotism. They came to school dressed in their red, white, and blue. This was an exciting day as it was the culmination of an exciting unit of study of the election process. After lunch, the classroom was transformed into a polling location. The students were required to show their voter registration cards and sign in. They then proceeded to the voting booth to cast their votes. After completing their voting, they deposited their ballots into the ballot box and received a sticker and patriotic key chain. This was a fun, but great learning experience.

Our Stupendous Salt Maps!

We are studying Ohio history this year. The students worked very diligently to create salt maps of Ohio. The salt maps represented different themes from the state of Ohio. Some created salt maps showing the 88 counties of Ohio. Some created salt maps showing the rivers and land regions. Some showed U.S. Presidents who were from Ohio, while others showed Indian tribes from Ohio, etc. The students' creativity shined through their salt maps! Way to go, fantastic 4th graders!

COMPLIMENT Party!

We had a wonderful time on Friday celebrating our behavior! We earned our COMPLIMENT party and had a fun afternoon. We turned our classroom into a mini-theater and watched a fun movie as well as had popcorn, orange slices, and juice boxes. This class has been working hard to earn their compliments. We are already on our way to another party! Let's go Fantastic Fourth Graders!

Week 5

Wow! We have been so busy that the blog has gotten away from me! Last week we had the opportunity to visit Schoenbrunn Village. It was an absolutely beautiful day as we learned about the early Moravian missionaries in this area. The students learned a great deal and earned some candy from Pastor Wallace. Thank you, Pastor Wallace! Pictures will be coming soon!

This week we are finishing up Number the Stars. The students are quite "bummed" that the novel is coming to an end. They have really enjoyed this novel and have done a great job comprehending, predicting, as well as writing poems about the characters in the novel. I look forward to seeing their favorite scenes on Friday! We will begin a new novel next week. I wonder which novel it will be!

We are working hard in math as we continue with multiplication, division, as well as measurement equations. The students hard work is paying off as you will see in their grades. I am so proud of them. We have a lot of fun as we practice our facts in class. I would encourage you to continue to practice the facts with the students at home. BigBrainz.com is a great website the students can use to reinforce these facts...and it is a game!

Midterm reports will be coming home on Friday. Please sign these are return them on Monday. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

The students have really stepped up to the plate the last couple of weeks, not only academically, but in their behavior as well. In fact, we completed our COMPLIMENT challenge and will have our party on Friday to celebrate! I am so proud of them! We will start spelling COMPLIMENT again. I wonder how soon we will have another party!?!?!?!? Stay tuned...

Week 2

What a busy and exciting second week of school we had! We began science this week and have some beans in Ziploc bags on moist paper towels. I wonder what will happen in the next few days. We got to eat outside two days this week which was a fun adventure.

We have a busy week coming up as well. There is NO SCHOOl on Monday for Labor Day. What a nice treat this week. We do have several tests and quizzes this week, so please be sure to review what we have been learning.

Here is a review of our specials. We have gym on Mondays, music on Tuesdays, computer on Wednesdays, art on Thursdays, and library on Fridays. Please be sure to wear tennis shoes on Mondays and return your library books on Fridays.

Also, you need to bring your lunches the next few weeks. We will have pizza on Mondays as usual and drinks will be available daily. Please keep Mrs. Reynolds in your prayers. We pray everything goes smoothly and she has a speedy recovery!

See you on Tuesday. Remember to FROG!

FROG Song - Our Theme Song

This is our theme song for this year! We have sung it every day...sometimes multiple times a day. What a great reminder for all of us to Fully Rely on God in ALL things!

First Week of Fourth Grade

We had a very busy and exciting first week of fourth grade! The students worked hard and had some fun in the process. They have had a blast learning our theme song for the year. A newsletter will be coming home on Monday going over all the important information for next week and upcoming weeks.

I hope everyone has a wonderful and restful weekend!

See you Monday!
